Empowering through collaboration
City Built Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is embarking on a heartfelt mission to recognize and honor the contributions of Latino and Hispanic brewers in the brewing industry. Inspired by similar movements, Mi Gente is dedicated to shining a spotlight on the rich cultural tapestry and craftsmanship that these brewers bring to the forefront.
Supporting meaningful causes
This is more than a brewing venture; it's a commitment to giving back. A portion of the proceeds will be dedicated to worthy causes that empower communities. The initial partner in this journey is Somos Comunidad. The Somos Comunidad Fund, led by Latino community members, was established by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
Join the movement
We invite breweries that share our vision to join us in this mission. By participating, breweries can contribute their unique artistic touch and direct the proceeds toward a cause that resonates within their local community. Together, we can make a tangible difference.
First collaborative release
The first collaboration will be with Batch Brewing Co. in Detroit, led by Production Manager Eric Plata. These collaborative beers will make their debut in the taprooms of both City Built Brewing and Batch Brewing on October 27, 2023. Beer enthusiasts can also look forward to these beers at the Michigan Brewers Guild 14th Annual Detroit Fall Beer Festival on October 28, 2023

Mi Gente was born out of the idea that I wanted to highlight the Latino and Hispanic contributions to the brewing industry. I carry immense pride in the fact that I am Puerto Rican, not just because I’m Puerto Rican, but because of the stories that came before me.
